The origins of ENT pathologies in babies
The nose is the first point of entry for microbes from the environment. Non-immune babies will be exposed to viruses that will enter through the nose and settle on the mucous membrane and cause an inflammatory reaction. To protect itself, the mucous membrane will create nasal secretions that will obstruct the baby's nose. As a result, the baby will have difficulty breathing. Initially, these secretions are essential against the intrusion of viruses, however, since the baby does not know how to blow his nose, the secretions will remain in place and prove to be annoying. If left untreated, this congestion may cause otitis or bronchiolitis.
What treatments are suitable for babies?
The most suitable treatment for babies is to wash the nose with physiological serum based on water and salt, which makes the liquid gentle, unlike water which is aggressive for the mucous membrane.
What solutions are there for decluttering your baby?
To clear a baby's nose, there are several techniques depending on the age of the child.
For the youngest, place the baby on his stomach, head to the side and inject the physiological serum into the upper nostril so that it comes out through the lower nostril, then repeat the operation on the other side.
When the child is older, a baby nasal aspirator can be used. The parent will inject the saline solution into one nostril while blocking the other, then use the device to suck out the secretions in the baby's nose using a tube equipped with a filter that will free the baby's nose.
