Toddlers – The Source of Joy and Frustration

Toddler Tantrum or Just New Parenting Skills Needed?

Stubborn I think is Sarah’s new middle name. At a very young age she knows what she wants and most importantly, what she does not want. From a very young age she started to assert her authority on the family with  baby tantrums. The ability to communicate with language has not been an issue for Sarah. She communicates well, even with limited speech. She has developed some words to communicate like no, up, this and that.

Non verbal communication has come easily for Sarah. she has a huge open mouth grin when she gets her own way. Sarah usually has her baby tantrum by crying, screaming and yelling if she does not get her way. This is consistent toddler behavior and is an exciting mark of a new stage of development.

Sarah has begun having tantrums a lot earlier than her sister who is now 6. Sarah, who I call the queen of tantrums has had them since she was about 9 months.

I know many parents who love the toddler stage, but are also frustrated with the toddler problems associated with it. Tantrums, yelling, head banging and lying on the floor! It is a wonderful yet frustrating experience to raise a toddler.

Funnily enough, I am not too worried about this stage because I have learnt the secret to dealing with toddlers temper tantrums. I am now confident to handle the challenges of being a parent of a toddler knowing I am assisting her development.

There is help out there to learn the skills to effectively deal with your toddler. A step by step audio program has been devised for parents wanting to increase their skills and deal with the toddler stage effectively. You will learn to deal with toddlers and also help you understand communication. Surprisingly, the skills learnt can even be used with adults.

The impact of the words you use on peoples behaviour should not be dismissed. There is psychological power in words and sentence structure and I was unaware of this until I researched methods of combating toddler tantrums. The way you talk to your toddler actually impacts on their behavior.

Dont remain frustrated with your todder during this stage. There is assistance out there and there are resources you have to turn to.
